A Domicile Certificate is mainly used as Proof of Date of Birth (DOB) and Proof of Address (POA) during a PAN card application.

Many applicants have only an Aadhaar Card and do not possess any other valid date of birth document such as a Birth Certificate, Passport, Matriculation Certificate, or Driving License. In such cases, a Domicile Certificate can be a useful alternative for DOB verification, provided the certificate clearly mentions the applicant's date of birth or age.

If you already have an Aadhaar Card, you can use Aadhaar as your identity and address proof, while the Domicile Certificate can be submitted as supporting proof of date of birth where required.

This is especially beneficial for applicants from rural areas, students, housewives, and individuals who do not have multiple government-issued documents available.
